A Stereotypical New Guy Situation Empty A Stereotypical New Guy Situation

Post by GeneralArin Mon Aug 18, 2014 10:14 pm

Jake stuck his books on the top shelf, assigning them to gather dust until it was time to return them. Seriously, did anyone actually use those? I think people are supposed to read them. "No, thank you," Jake said, throwing his backpack back over his shoulder. "If I want to torture myself, I'll just watch the Star Wars Holiday Special."

He paused for a moment, double checking if he needed to take or drop off anything else before he closed his locker.

Axel saw turned the corner of the hall, because you know there were some times when he attended the school. After all There was a lot of entertainment value in high school if one just paid attention. Seeing one of the new kids, Jake, who was sorting through his locker being approached by a couple of the resident punks of the school. Axel leaned up against one of the lockers, curious to see where this would go.

They were both seniors, and both significantly bigger than Jake. Axel recognized vaguely that one was on some sports team; the wrestling team was it? The other was a just a general delinquent. Axel had fought both of them at some point, and knew they both had a reputation for picking fights with academy students in particular. Probably some weird grudge those idiots had against him, or maybe because everyone from the academy was a weird in some way, or another.

“Hey dude, isn’t this twerp one of those new academy brats?” The larger of the two asked. Axel was surprised that they already knew Jake was from the academy, especially since these musclebound idiots were about as smart as your average first grader.

Jake turned to see a couple big guys coming towards him.
"Twerp?" Jake asked with a crooked smile. "Did you get that from tv?" He sensed trouble, and seeing as they both were bigger than him and didn't seem like they were inquiring to give him a tour.
I thought things like this only happened on the television.
"Apparently not," he mumbled to Wayne. Louder, he said to the guys, "You need something, because I should probably find my class."
Normally, he wouldn't be bothered and would just walk in late if for some reason there was a complication. However, right now it was an excuse to leave an uncomfortable situation before it escalated.

“Look at this clown, of course he’s from that place. Nobody normal would come from there.” The two idiots were speaking almost as if they weren’t infront of Jake. You think you should step in now? Casper asked. Not yet they haven’t done anything, besides this is interesting.  With that Axel went back to watching what was going on across the hall. “Oh I’m sure we can give you the grand tour.” One of the meatheads said, and it was too obvious they weren’t planning on showing Jake anything he would want to see. The bigger one moved to block Jake’s potential escape, of course they didn’t bother to lay a hand on him yet though, but most likely the kid had said something that they didn’t like.

"Thanks," Jake said flatly. Come on, what wasn't 'normal' about him other than he wasn't a 6' meathead? It wasn't like the guys had actually spoken to him or anything.
Yeah, Wayne agreed, They should at least wait until they talk to you to call you 'weird'.

"You know what, I'm okay, I like exploring," Jake said quickly, he glanced to the side to see the other guy moving in, and both of them were getting too close. While he probably couldn't take them normally, he probably could stomp them into the ground as a gorilla, or literally as a rhino. But he was pretty sure that was wrong. Wayne agreed. It was in all the comics.

Now are you going to step in? Axel thought about it for a moment, it was supposed to be his job to watch out for the newbies, and more important make sure they didn’t do something stupid that could expose them. Which of course could happen easily in this type of situation, and Axel would rather not have to clear up that mess. Fine. The punks had apparently decided to start escalating things, at least that’s what Axel figured from how these things usually go. One of them had started shoving Jake, and they seemed to notice the still open locker as well.

The older boys started shoving him, though only the first one caught him off guard. The second time he was about to throw a swing, but he had to abort it to grab the edge of his locker to keep from falling over. The bullies seemed to realize that his locker was still open, and decided to follow more stereotypes. One stepped forward and started pushing him into the locker, grabbing his collar. Jake managed to mostly fight to stay up using leverage and the locker edge, but the other guy jumping in would probably change that. Then the three of them were startled by a new voice, pausing for a moment.

Jake glanced up at the new person, recognizing him from the academy. (Though he walked up like a normal person this time.)
Jake tried a smile, which only pulled at a corner of his mouth, "If you like," he said, trying for something resembling cool and casual.

"Well if it isn't Axel, we're gonna pay you back for last time" Axel looked at the two punks positions. To someone normal they would probably be intimidating. Of course Axel had advanced combat training, and had fought spectres that could give musclebound idiots like these guys nightmares for weeks. “That’s funny, looks like you guys still have your teeth how bout we fix that.”

The bigger of the two thugs, the one on the wrestling team no doubt immediately went for a grapple, only to get his legs kicked out from under him. He fell hard, hitting the floor with a thud. The other made an attempt at a jab at Axel’s face, but he caught the boy’s arm and then proceeded to send him crashing to the ground with a judo flip, right on top of his partner in crime.

The bully let Jake go to engage Ax, which apparently was a bad idea because both of them were quickly stomped. It was kind of like the thugs Batman takes in the opening of the show.
They moaned and untangled themselves.

Jake sidestepped around them and closed his locker.
"Well. I guess that settles that."

"Didn't go well for them last time either" Axel said, one of the thugs decided to run off, or rather limp. The bigger guy was more stubborn however, or maybe Axel had just hurt his pride. He was only half standing again when he tried for another grab. Big mistake, Axel gave him a roundhouse kick to the jaw, which knocked the meathead right back down to the ground. Only this time he was down for the count, and Axel immediately turned his attention back to Jake.

“Looks like the last lesson on manners I gave Dumb and Dumber hadn’t quite sunk in.” Some of the freshmen were staring in awe at him, or maybe it was fear. The students who had been here last year didn’t really bat an eye at the display, they had seen it all before after all. You went overboard again Casper chipped in, and Axel had to admit the wisp was correct.

Definitely Batman. Wayne concluded. Jake nodded in agreement, being part of the awed freshmen.

"I think that might be the head trauma," Jake said in response to Ax's comment.

"What is going on here?!" A woman demanded, marching up in heels that clacked with each step. The unaffiliated students quickly dissipated, not wanting to get in trouble. When she saw the people involved, she crossed her arms, apparently unsurprised and very upset.
"Drew Rogers and Axel Stone." (Apparently one of the bullies on the ground was Drew.) "Fighting is not tolerated at this school-- you both should know this very well by now."
She glared at the other boy with 'Drew' and Jake in turn, who showed his palms in a pacifying gesture.

Right on time here came the bloodhound, as the students had nicknamed her, She wasn’t nearly as bad as Ms. Laurens at the academy, but the infamous teacher was quite good at catching troublemaking students. Her actual name was Mrs. Wescott. Though she had numerous nicknames that she probably wasn’t aware of, including a few that would probably get some students detention if she caught them saying them. Axel had spent his freshmen year sleeping through her class, and this hadn’t been the first time she had caught him violating school rules. “It really wasn’t much of a fight.” Axel said with a cocky expression. Honestly he was over the speeches she gave by now. Besides he was probably going to get detention today anyways, so why not get it over with.

“The wrestling team must not have very high standards Drew.” Axel said when the boy picked himself up off the ground. He wasn’t worried about any potential trouble he may get into, after all what would they do give him detention? He practically had that on his class schedule.

"No one said they were a good team," Jake quipped, responding to Ax's comment. Drew's glare transferred to him. Oops. Maybe you should only say the really good ones. Wayne suggested. Jake had to admit that was probably a good idea.

The teacher that came up also gave him a disapproving glare. "Mr. Luvolk, I know you are new to this school, however that does not justify acting like a delinquent." She said the last word like it was dirty, and gave Ax a meaningful glare, as if the guy defined 'bad influence'.
"Mr. Stone, Mr. Rogers, I expect both of you in my office during your lunch hours to explain this." With that, she stomped off in those loud heels, off to chew out some other rowdy students.

Jake watched her go, then turned back to see Drew give him a rude gesture, as if this whole scenario was his fault. The guy barked out some threat with several obscene words. Jake was about to say something, but Wayne interrupted his thought process. You probably shouldn't egg him on... Jake figured that was probably smart.
Drew marched off to go punt a kitten or something as best as he could with a sore back.

After the guy left, Jake turned to Ax. "Err, thanks."

Mrs. Wescott seemed to assume that Axel was going to just go to her office. Honestly she should know by now that her chance to lecture her had just passed, and Axel wasn't going to give her a second chance for the day. Lunch time would be after the next class, and Axel was figuring he would take the rest of the day off. "Have you tried the burgers at Benny's Diner across the street, we should go there for lunch, you're buying." Axel figured he might as well get something out of this little situation, aside from the opportunity to beat up on Drew, which was always fun. Besides he was planning to bring some of the newbies there anyway. easier to keep an eye on them that way without it seeming weird to other students.

"No," Jake started answering the questions one at a time, "Why am I buying, and aren't you supposed to be in her office at lunch?"
What was her name? Wayne asked. Jake couldn't remember. He wasn't familiar with the staff here yet, but she seemed like someone he didn't want to be around much, especially not on her bad side.

(She's totally going to be Jake's homeroom teacher if they have those. Because we all know Jake gets all the luck.)
